My New Favorite Thing

I've still been working on a few things. I'm doing the Shrunken Jacket from my Double Stitch book by the Simpson sisters. I just ran out of yarn last night. Dang, cause I got it from Knit Picks and I hate to pay that shipping fee just for one ball of yarn and spending $50 to avoid it ain't in the budget right now. So, I'll guess I won't be able to wear my jacket it this weekend.

That's cool because I'm still working on my Oz by Kamika King. I think I'm almost done with my sleeves. I might be able to finish this by Friday if I focus. I'm not planning on blocking it and my family gets started late for any activities so that gives me 3 whole knitting days.

But, I wanted to show you my new Kathy Van Zeeland bag. I picked it up at Marshalls for $40 bucks. I'd seen it there previously and since it's totally not my style I'd overlooked it, or better yet, talked myself out of getting this gaudy purse. My mind couldn't shake it. They had this silvery colored one, a tan one and a pink one. Which of course was gone by the time I went back to get it.

See the bling? Those are charms hanging from a key chain.

It has so many pockets. One side for regular purse stuff, a middle pocket for cosmetics, and one side for, you guessed it, my yarney fetishes. Just as good as and way cheaper than those other stylish knitting bags. I can fit a whole hand full of crochet hooks in that bling-bling pocket up there.

On what I call the regular purse side, there's not just a cell phone pocket, but two pockets for i.d.'s and credit cards! No more wallet needed. By the way Blogger flipped these pictures for me. Thanks alot, NOT!

And yet another pocket that I use for my loose change. I love this bag.

I know that since I got this bag from Marshalls it's most likely from several seasons ago. I don't care. If I find it in pink, or red or something, I'm getting another.

Fat Bottom Bag

I like it! I wish that I was good at sewing so that I could have given it a lining. Very cute but too small for me. It also needs a closure. Maybe a snap closure. Until I work these things out it will be a small project bag. Perfect for these socks I have going on. You've probably already figured out that I never make my bed. I'll try not to take pictures of it in the future I promise.

I really like the shape of the bag. That's why I'm making a market bag for myself. I've always admired those wonderfully colorful felted bags you sometimes see. But, what if one of the food items you put in it leaks, what a tragedy that'd be. So basically, I'd be bagging items to put in my bag. How wasteful.
So, this seemed like the perfect time to start a project I've been wanting to embark on for quite some time. Something with plastic bag yarn. I got the instructions from this site referred to in a Crochet Me article. It's pretty easy, but making yarn for just my little project is taking A LOT of bags. I think that by time I finish the quantity used will be the equivalent to the number that could fit in an overstuffed kitchen bag. Maybe about $300 dollars worth of groceries. My "bisquits" are about 2 inches wide. I wanted a big bag so I'm trying to make chunky yarn and I'm using a size N hook.

I owe my brother a hand made birthday gift. It's really pathetic because his birthday was in August. Well, he wanted a vest with a little intarsia in the front. Boring. I couldn't do it. I ripped it off the needles several times. Finally, I took a stand (not directly to my brother yet). I will not start on another mile long stockinette project! He will get the Cycling Aran and love it. It's pretty fun and easy so far.

Chic on a Halfshell Indeed Posted by Picasa

Well, the daycare will accommodate my new schedule. I will have to scoop the kids out of bed at about 4:20 am so that I can be to work at 5:00 am. My new purse and I took them to Chuck E. Cheese last night so that I can deal with my guilt.

I used two rolls of Aunt Lydia's 100%Mercerized Cotton thread for this project. It's what I had left over from the flower jumper. $1.50 each.
